Crypto Market Hits $3 Trillion Solana Hyperliquid Zcash Lead the Charge
The total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies surpassed $3 trillion on October 2, marking a 43% increase from $2.1 trillion at the end of June 2026. This surge has reignited optimism about a potential bull market rally. For investors already holding Bitcoin and Ethereum, three cryptocurrencies stand out for their potential to lead the next uptrend: Solana (SOL), Hyperliquid (HYPE), and Zcash (ZEC).
Solana has seen a 50% price increase over the past three months, driven by the SEC's "innovation exemption" issued on September 17. This regulatory change allows qualifying crypto venues to trade tokenized stocks without registering as exchanges, boosting activity on Solana's tokenization and launchpad ecosystems. Platforms like Pump.fun have introduced new features, attracting significant traffic and transaction fees, which are partially burned to reduce SOL supply.
Hyperliquid, a decentralized exchange for crypto derivatives, has been a major player in token buybacks, funding 58% of crypto's token buybacks through August 2026. With 97% to 99% of its transaction fees used for open-market purchases of HYPE, the coin offers holders upside potential. The SEC's recent statement that buybacks of non-security tokens do not raise securities concerns further supports Hyperliquid's growth prospects.
Zcash, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency, stands out with a fixed supply of 21 million ZEC and a halving event scheduled for November 24, 2028. This halving will reduce the per-block mining reward from 1.56 ZEC to 0.78 ZEC, enhancing its scarcity and potential as a store of value. Zcash's 952% gain over the past year suggests sustained demand for its privacy features and controlled supply.
