Crypto Market Shifts From Fear to Extreme Greed as BTC Hits New High
The cryptocurrency market has seen a significant shift in investor sentiment over the past month. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index, which measures market sentiment, rose to 81 points last week, its highest level of the year, indicating that investors are now in an 'Extreme Greed' zone.
This is a stark contrast from just a month ago when the index was at 41 points, classified as 'Neutral'. Bitcoin (BTC) has continued its upward trend, currently trading at $79,252 and gaining approximately 0.67% in the last hour.
The Fear and Greed Index in the BitcoinSystem On-Chain Terminal data shows a 'Greed' level with 74 points, indicating that investors are indeed feeling optimistic about the market.
In derivatives markets, high volatility is apparent, with $424.5 million in leveraged positions being liquidated over the last 24 hours. Of this amount, $334.2 million were long positions and $90.3 million were short positions.
