Crypto Market Surges as Treasury Doubles Debt Buybacks
The crypto market is experiencing a significant surge in momentum, with Bitcoin breaking above $77,000 for the first time in three months.
This rally comes on the heels of the U.S. Treasury doubling its debt buybacks, which has boosted liquidity and led to an influx of capital into the market.
According to data, about $400 billion in capital flowed into the crypto market in just five days, with Bitcoin adding around 22% to its value during this time.
The move triggered major liquidations among traders betting against the price, with at least $4 billion worth of short positions wiped out over five days.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent shared that the government's buyback of its own debt could grow more than the $4 billion already announced, with the goal of easing pressure in the bond market and managing the national debt, which hit $40 trillion this week.
