Crypto Market Surges to $2.95 Trillion Amid Forced Trades, New Regulations
The global cryptocurrency market has experienced a significant surge, with the total capitalization reaching $2.95 trillion, a 4.9% increase in just 24 hours. This growth is attributed to several factors, including forced trades, new regulations, big-company hiring, and upgrade plans.
Bitcoin led the charge, trading at $84,514.35, up 5.2%, while XRP surged 8.6% to $1.49. The top three coins by market capitalization, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP, all experienced significant gains, with Ethereum's price increasing 5.7% to $2,719.28.
The surge was driven in part by the liquidation of over $400 million in leveraged shorts within four hours, as well as the implementation of Russia's new crypto rules, which allow qualified and non-qualified investors to trade through regulated intermediaries. Apple and Google have also announced hiring for stablecoin roles, adding to the market's confidence.
Ripple is preparing to upgrade its XRP Ledger with Batch V1.1, a significant update that combines up to eight transactions into one operation and uses an all-or-nothing design. The upgrade is expected to activate on September 29 if support remains above 80%.
