Crypto Market Volatility Expected as US Economic Calendar Packs a Punch
The US economic calendar is packed with significant events that could inject fresh volatility into the broader crypto market. The August JOLTS Job Openings Report, which provides another look at demand for workers ahead of the employment report at the end of the week, will be released on Tuesday alongside September consumer confidence.
Wednesday's releases are likely to have a greater impact on Bitcoin and altcoins, with the Bureau of Economic Analysis publishing August Personal Income and Outlays. This includes the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, the PCE price index, as well as the third and final estimate of second-quarter US GDP.
The inflation figure is expected to be closely watched by investors, particularly after the recent interest rate hike. Hotter-than-expected price pressures could strengthen expectations for another increase, while softer readings may reduce the perceived need for further tightening.
Thursday will bring the September ISM Manufacturing PMI, which follows an August reading that marked the eighth consecutive monthly expansion with a reading of 54.6. The labor-market landscape is crucial for monetary-policy expectations, and a strong report on Friday's jobs release could give the Fed more room to hike rates.
