Ethereum's 2030 Vision: A 'Cryptographic World Computer' Takes Shape
Vitalik Buterin published an essay outlining Ethereum's roadmap to 2030, describing it as a 'cryptographic world computer.'
The network is expected to transition from traditional blockchain architecture to a hybrid design that incorporates modern cryptography. This will enable faster and cheaper operations, stronger privacy, and better scalability.
Buterin notes that this shift may be the last 'normal' upgrade for Ethereum, with future developments building on recursive STARKs, automated formal verification, optimized consensus, and quantum safety.
The essay mentions several key technologies, including recursive STARKs, SNARK verification, PeerDAS, FOCIL, privacy-focused mempools, and quantum-safe cryptography. These will enable the network to reach faster finality, with slots potentially as short as 4-8 seconds by 2030.
A GMGN-linked address recently sent 6,100 ETH worth around $16.38 million to Coinbase. The funds were bridged from a Robinhood Chain-related address about six days earlier, suggesting they may be fee income earned on the platform.
