Crypto PAC Fairshake backs 32 House candidates for 2026 US midterms
Fairshake, a political action committee supported by Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz, has unveiled plans to back 32 House candidates ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections. The group will initially allocate $6 million to support six candidates, with an overall budget exceeding $100 million for ads backing House and Senate candidates. Fairshake's strategy includes supporting 19 Republican and 13 Democratic incumbents, with a notable focus on Ohio’s Senate race, where it plans to spend at least $30 million to support Republican Jon Husted against Democrat Sherrod Brown.
The PAC will provide $1 million each to six key candidates, including Oregon Representative Janelle Bynum, California Representative Derek Tran, and Nevada Representative Steven Horsford from the Democratic side, and Arkansas Representative French Hill, Michigan Representative Bill Huizenga, and Wisconsin Representative Bryan Steil from the Republican side. All 32 candidates endorsed by Fairshake have previously voted in favor of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a bill aimed at clarifying regulatory roles for digital assets, which recently failed a crucial Senate vote.
Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter emphasized the group's commitment to backing pro-crypto candidates from both parties. As of August, the PAC reported having $122 million in cash on hand, with plans to build the largest pro-crypto caucus in US history. According to Public Citizen, Fairshake had spent $82 million on ads as of June, a portion of the $189 million estimated to come from crypto-aligned advocacy groups and companies.
