Crypto shareholder sues Trump over alleged constitutional violations

Share

A shareholder of Circle Internet Group has filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump and World Liberty Financial, a crypto venture co-founded by Trump and his sons. The lawsuit, filed in federal court on Thursday, alleges that Trump violated the Constitution by profiting from his office through deals linked to the United Arab Emirates.

The complaint argues that Trump has openly admitted that the lack of consequences encourages him to continue using his presidential position to enrich himself. It specifically targets two deals involving World Liberty Financial, accusing Trump of violating the foreign emoluments clause, which prohibits the president from accepting money or benefits from a foreign government without congressional approval.

Representatives from the White House, World Liberty Financial, and Circle Internet Group did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
