Crypto Wallet Address Poisoning Scams Drain User of $100,000
A crypto user lost over $100,000 in USDT after falling victim to a wallet address poisoning scam.
The attackers created fake addresses resembling legitimate ones and inserted them into transaction histories, tricking users who copied-pasted addresses without verifying.
This tactic led to significant financial losses for the user, who was unaware of the fake addresses.
The attacker quickly converted the stolen USDT to Ethereum to avoid freezing by Tether, and total Ethereum-related losses from this type of scam have reached $62 million between late 2025 and early 2026.
