CXMT Closes Gap with Industry Leaders in Smartphone Memory Chip Production

ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), China's largest domestic DRAM producer, has made significant strides in smartphone memory chip production. The company has completed R&D verification for LPDDR6 memory chips with design speeds of 12.8 Gbps, putting them on par with industry leaders Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.

CXMT's latest offering features a base speed of 10.7 Gbps using the company's G4 process node and has a design density of 16Gb. This positions them as competitive entries in the low-power DRAM segment for smartphones.

The company's existing LPDDR5X chips already deliver speeds of up to 10,667 Mbps, which aligns with mainstream industry performance from established players. CXMT recently went public on the Shanghai STAR Market, raising approximately $8.55 billion and saw its shares surge over 466% on their debut day.

With US export restrictions on advanced chip technology, China has prioritized semiconductor self-reliance. CXMT operates DRAM fabrication facilities with a monthly wafer capacity of approximately 100,000 units and is building additional manufacturing plants in Beijing to expand output further.
