Cypherpunk Expands Mining Operations with Winklevoss Backing and $33 Million Investment
Cypherpunk Technology, a Nasdaq-listed company focused on accumulating Zcash (ZEC), has launched its mining subsidiary, Cypherpunk Mining. The move marks a significant step in the company's strategy to become a major holder of ZEC, with Winklevoss Capital providing $33.33 million in funding through a stock deal.
The deployment of approximately 4.2 GSol/s of hash rate across multiple sites in the United States represents roughly 18% of the Zcash network's total hash rate. This positioning gives Cypherpunk significant influence over ZEC network operations, which could lead to more stable mining economics and potentially higher returns.
The company currently holds about 323,394 ZEC, accounting for roughly 1.92% of the total circulating supply. With monthly mining rewards estimated at around 43,800 ZEC, Cypherpunk aims to increase its treasury to 5% of the total supply through an aggressive accumulation strategy.
