Cyprus Ranks Among Europe's Top Ten Video Game Industries by Revenue
Cyprus's gaming industry has made significant strides in recent years, with the country now ranking among Europe's top ten video game industries by revenue. According to a report published by the Cyprus Game Makers Association (CYGMA), there are over 400 companies operating on the island that generate an estimated €3.2 billion from games each year.
The report highlights the growth of the mobile gaming segment, with Cyprus-based publishers releasing 571 new mobile games in the past year, recording about 615 million downloads and placing the island third worldwide behind China and Vietnam and ahead of the US.
Tourist arrivals to Cyprus fell by 1.1 per cent in July, but a 55.8 per cent jump in visitors from Israel kept the overall decline small while nearly every other major market weakened. The country received a total of 582,754 tourists during the month, compared with 589,116 in July last year.
