Deutsche Bank Aims for Regulated Crypto Custody in Late 2026
German banking giant Deutsche Bank is set to offer regulated cryptocurrency custody services in late 2026, pending final regulatory clearance. The bank's platform will support Bitcoin, Ethereum, and several stablecoins, including USDC, EURC, and EURAU, for its enterprise-level clients.
The institution has been exploring blockchain technology since 2015, with a pivotal partnership formed with Swiss technology provider Taurus in 2023 to develop custody infrastructure. With $2.217 trillion in managed assets as of June 30, Deutsche Bank represents significant institutional entry into the crypto space.
Deutsche Bank's Co-Head of Corporate Bank, Gerald Podobnik, views digital assets as an extension of conventional finance rather than a substitute. The bank will handle wallet administration, private key security, and external transaction processing for its clients.
