Deutsche Bank Enters Digital Asset Custody with Regulatory Approval
Deutsche Bank is expanding its services to include digital asset custody for institutional clients in Europe. The German lender announced plans to launch the service this year, pending regulatory approval. The move aims to provide a secure and regulated gateway for clients to hold and transfer selected digital assets.
The initial target group includes clients of Deutsche Bank's Corporate Bank and Investment Bank, spanning corporates, asset managers, hedge funds, custodians, brokers, and sovereign institutions. The service will support Bitcoin, Ether, and stablecoins such as USDC and EURC, with the list expandable over time.
Gerald Podobnik, Co-Head Corporate Bank at Deutsche Bank, stated that digital assets are not a replacement for traditional finance but an important complement to it. He emphasized the importance of regulated financial institutions providing trust, security, and safeguards in this evolving market.
