Deutsche Bank Seeks October MiCA License for Institutional Crypto Custody
Deutsche Bank is on track to become one of the first global systemically important banks to offer regulated crypto custody services under the European Union's MiCA framework. The bank expects to receive its operating license in October, pending completion of the regulatory process.
The initial offering will cover custody for Bitcoin, Ether, and a curated set of stablecoins, including Circle's USDC and EURC as well as AllUnity's EURAU. Tokenized financial instruments are slated for a later phase.
Heinrich Frömsdorf, a Deutsche Bank spokesperson, stated that the bank views digital assets as additional rails that can operate alongside established market systems. He emphasized that expansion is guided by client demand, regulatory developments, and internal risk approvals.
