Dogecoin Bear Cross Sparks Debate Amid Rising Liquidation Risks
Dogecoin has formed a rare bearish technical signal, sparking debate among traders and analysts. The token's 20-week exponential moving average (EMA) fell below its 200-week EMA, a crossover that historically precedes price bottoms. Technical analyst Charting Guy flagged the signal, pointing out that it has often marked the start of upward movements for Dogecoin.
However, not all traders share this optimism. Daan Crypto Trades views the recent bounce from $0.08 as a range trade rather than a trend reversal. He sees the current price action as a consolidation within the $0.08-$0.13 range and advises caution in predicting further movement.
Caution is indeed warranted, according to João Wedson, CEO of Alphractal. His firm's aggregated liquidation heatmap shows significant potential for stop-driven cascades if Dogecoin breaks lower. Wedson also notes that the memecoin's rallies often serve as a risk signal for Bitcoin, which could be moving sideways.
The current trading volume of Dogecoin has indeed outpaced other altcoins and even Bitcoin, although this momentum is beginning to fade.
