Dogecoin Expands Ecosystem with Ethereum-Compatible Smart Contract Network
Dogecoin has entered a new era with the launch of DogeOS, a smart contract network powered by DOGE. The public testnet, called Chikyū, is now available for developers to build and test Ethereum-compatible applications on the Dogecoin blockchain. This move aims to expand the Dogecoin ecosystem beyond just payments and transfers.
The system is designed as a zero-knowledge rollup network compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, allowing for the development of decentralized exchanges, lending protocols, stablecoin applications, prediction markets, and blockchain games. DOGE will be used as the network's native transaction fee asset.
Developers working with Ethereum tools can connect their existing software to the DogeOS testnet and test their Solidity-based smart contracts. However, it's essential to note that the launch of the test network does not mean the Dogecoin mainchain is now natively running Ethereum smart contracts.
