Dogecoin's April Fools' Joke Masks Real Network Growth
The Dogecoin (DOGE) team has been at it again, this time publishing an 'important' community announcement on April 1 that some might have mistaken for real. The post claimed that the project was rebranding as a corporation called DogeCoin Financial Solutions LLC and would be retiring its iconic Shiba Inu logo in favor of a new 'tasteful navy blue emblem.'
The team also announced plans to publish a 67-page whitepaper titled Toward a Synergistic Decentralized Liquidity Framework, drop the words 'wow,' 'much,' and 'very' from all communications, and rebrand its community from the DOGE Army to 'stakeholders.' The post cited legal reasons for the language ban.
However, most community members quickly identified it as an April Fools' joke. BuildrJ, a founding member of DogeOS, even added to the bit by claiming that DogeCoin Financial Solutions had signed a letter of intent (LOI) to acquire DogeOS and MyDoge, with the release of MyDoge V3 as an 'AI-powered astronomy app.'
Beneath the humor, however, the network showed real movement. Crypto analyst Ali Martinez reported on X that Dogecoin's active addresses rose 28% in seven days, climbing from 57,000 to 73,000.
