DogeOS Unleashes Ethereum-Style Apps on Dogecoin Ecosystem
Dogecoin's ecosystem is expanding beyond its role as a payments-focused meme coin with the launch of DogeOS, a public ZK rollup testnet designed to bring Ethereum-compatible applications to the network.
The testnet allows developers to build and test decentralized finance (DeFi) products, games, and other applications using DOGE without requiring changes to the underlying Dogecoin blockchain.
DogeOS aims to evolve DOGE from a payment token to a full ecosystem, giving holders more ways to use their tokens beyond trading and holding them.
The project has already attracted developers working across several categories, including Barkswap, Superposition Finance, Derps, Split Markets, USDoge, Snag, Anoncoin, Starbase, Doge Escape, PlaysOut, and DogeFundMe.
However, the projects remain at different stages of development, with availability and features depending on each team's schedule.
The current system relies on validator signatures and a trusted execution environment to secure applications and connect them to Dogecoin, but a proposed upgrade would introduce native ZK-proof verification in July 2025.
