DogeOS Unleashes Public Testnet for EVM-Ready Apps
DogeOS, an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible environment for building applications on Dogecoin, has opened its public testnet. The project was founded by the team behind MyDoge, a Dogecoin wallet, and aims to bring utility to the cryptocurrency's base layer.
The initial lineup of projects built on DogeOS is weighted towards decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, including Barkswap's liquidity engine, Superposition Finance's lending protocol, and Derps' perpetuals exchange. Other notable projects include USDoge's stablecoin, Snag's prediction market aggregator, and Anoncoin and Starbase's token launchpads.
On the consumer side, DogeOS is supporting applications such as games and crowdfunding platforms. The project has also secured an endorsement from the Dogecoin Foundation, with Timothy Stebbing stating that DogeOS represents a new chapter in the cryptocurrency's story.
