Solana Extends DEX Volume Lead to Five Consecutive Quarters
Solana has maintained its lead in spot decentralized exchange (DEX) volume for the fifth consecutive quarter, according to the latest data. The network's DEX volume climbed 16.6% to $197 billion in Q3 2026, outpacing every other blockchain in the space.
The majority of the volume came from Solana Compass, which reported approximately $184 billion in spot DEX volume for the month of September. However, a different tracker, DefiLlama, reported a significantly lower volume of around $78 billion, highlighting the discrepancies in reporting methodologies.
The growth in Solana's DEX volume can be attributed to three main factors: high-frequency memecoin trading, stablecoin swaps, and an expanding roster of tokenized assets. Several protocols, including PumpSwap, Orca, and Raydium, handled the bulk of the flow.
The shift towards on-chain trading is significant, as it could lead to a change in the economics of where fees and liquidity accumulate. However, the reliance on memecoin activity means that a portion of the volume is speculative and can cool quickly.
