DogeOS Unveils Public Testnet Chikyū with Ethereum-Compatible Apps
DogeOS, an application layer for Dogecoin, has launched its public testnet called Chikyū. This move allows developers to build Ethereum-compatible applications on DOGE using familiar software. The testnet uses test DOGE for transaction fees and is currently being used by projects developing lending services, trading platforms, and a cryptocurrency-backed stablecoin.
DogeOS plans to secure its system with mathematical proofs and eventually have the Dogecoin network verify them. Currently, the security model relies on selected operators, hardware, and validators, as well as a trusted execution environment and permissioned sequencer. However, DogeOS aims to give miners this role through an upgrade to Dogecoin Core.
The proposal, OP_CHECKZKP, would allow computers on the Dogecoin network to check proofs that calculations performed elsewhere were correct. This is necessary because the current setup relies on validators and a trusted execution environment to verify zero-knowledge proofs.
