Dormant Bitcoin Wallet Reawakens After 15 Years

A long-dormant Bitcoin wallet has reactivated after more than 15 years, transferring 20.43 BTC worth approximately $1.7 million.

The coins were acquired for an estimated $70 in 2010-2011, when the price of BTC was between $3 and $4. This represents a return of over 20,000 times the original investment.

The wallet's address has been linked to Mt. Gox and Silk Road, two prominent names from Bitcoin's early years. The coins were split into two transfers: one on May 8, 2011, containing 10.33 BTC ($863,000), and another on May 1, 2011, with 10.10 BTC ($844,000).

This is not an isolated incident. Since September, several wallets have become active after long periods of inactivity. These include 12 wallets that mined 50 BTC each in March 2010, which sent out a combined 600 BTC between them.
