Ducat Connects with TRON for Enhanced USDT Settlement Options
Ducat, a Bitcoin Layer 1-native credit protocol, has integrated its infrastructure with TRON to provide users with direct access to the largest USDT settlement layer in crypto. This integration introduces wUNIT, a TRC-20 wrapped version of Ducat's Bitcoin-backed dollar token, enabling cross-chain transfers and swaps against Tether's dominant stablecoin.
The protocol allows Bitcoin holders to deposit BTC into non-custodial vaults and borrow UNIT without handing their keys over to anyone. Borrowing carries a 1% origination fee with no ongoing interest, a notable departure from most lending protocols that charge variable rates.
TRON has become the backbone of stablecoin transfers globally due to its low fees and fast confirmation times, making it a default rail for peer-to-peer dollar transfers in emerging markets across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The $94 billion USDT figure represents actual circulating supply on TRON, with TRC-20 USDT being the single largest stablecoin deployment on any network.
