Dunamu Teams Up with Kazakhstan's Alatau City for Multi-Billion-Dollar Digital Finance Push
South Korean fintech company Dunamu has joined forces with Alatau City in Kazakhstan to develop digital financial infrastructure across Central Asia. The partnership, which was formalized during a Korea-Kazakhstan Business Roundtable in Seoul on September 15-16, 2026, is part of a broader diplomatic push by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to attract technology partnerships into the country's emerging fintech ecosystem.
The memorandum of understanding between Dunamu and Alatau City Administration covers four key areas: real-world asset tokenization, security token offerings, stablecoins, and digital payment solutions. Dunamu will contribute its technical expertise, drawing on its experience running one of Asia's most active crypto trading platforms, Upbit.
Alatau City Bank is the operational center of gravity for this project, having already integrated Binance Pay across over 5,000 point-of-sale terminals. The bank is targeting up to $60 million in tokenization pilots focused on real estate and logistics projects, which are expected to launch before the end of 2026 using the infrastructure of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange.
The broader Alatau City megaproject carries an estimated total investment target of $6 billion, with partnerships already secured with Halyk Bank, Solana, and Binance for payment integrations. If successful, Alatau City will position itself as a digital finance hub in Kazakhstan.
