Dutch Crypto Casinos Must Meet Strict Licensing Requirements
The Netherlands has one of the strictest licensing regimes in Europe for crypto casinos. To obtain a KSA (Kansspelautoriteit) licence, operators must meet six obligations.
The Remote Gambling Act opened the licensed market on October 1, 2021, with online casino games and sports betting granted under a single remote gambling licence. As of June 2026, about 27 to 28 operators held one.
The KSA does not allow untargeted advertising, including TV, radio, print, or public spaces. Sports sponsorship by online operators is also prohibited outright.
Licensed Dutch operators cannot accept cryptocurrency, making a player using crypto an unlicensed site by definition.
