Emirates Flights Now Accept Crypto Payments from UAE Residents
Emirates, Dubai's flagship carrier, has partnered with Crypto.com to enable UAE residents to make flight bookings using cryptocurrencies. The airline has integrated Crypto.com Pay on its website and app, allowing eligible customers to authorize payments from their wallet.
Mobile users are directed to the Crypto.com app to confirm payment, while desktop customers scan a QR code at checkout. Emirates settles payments in UAE dirhams, with Crypto.com handling the conversion of cryptocurrencies.
The move reflects the changing preferences of younger generations who manage their finances primarily through mobile devices, said Adnan Kazim, Emirates' deputy president and chief commercial officer.
Crypto.com received a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license from the UAE central bank in May 2025, which enables non-bank companies to hold customers' money or crypto in digital wallets. This allows customers to fund payments with cryptocurrencies while merchants receive dirhams or approved stablecoins.
