Emirates Flights Now Accept Crypto Payments Through Crypto.com Pay
Emirates has become one of the first major airlines to allow passengers to book tickets using cryptocurrency, partnering with Crypto.com Pay for the service. The integration went live on July 28th, and eligible UAE residents can now use their crypto holdings to purchase flights through emirates.com or the Emirates App.
The option is only available for customers who meet specific conditions: they must be an eligible UAE resident, have an active Crypto.com account, book a flight priced in AED (Emirati dirhams), and have the ticket settled in AED. The service does not currently support international flights or non-verified wallets.
When making a payment through Crypto.com Pay, customers can see the amount of cryptocurrency needed to complete the transaction, calculated using the market rate at the time of approval. The airline receives the fare value in dirhams, with no exposure to potential fluctuations in the cryptocurrency's value.
