ETH Surpasses One Million Lifetime Developers as Solana Ecosystem Sees Rapid Growth
Ethereum has reached a historic milestone in developer activity, becoming the first blockchain to surpass one million lifetime contributors. According to Electric Capital's data, Ethereum had 31,869 active developers over the reporting period and added 16,181 new developers in the first nine months of 2025.
The Solana ecosystem saw significant growth, with an 83% year-over-year increase in active developers, reaching 17,708. However, the Solana Foundation disputes Electric Capital's methodology, claiming that approximately 7,800 active developers are missing from the count.
Bitcoin ranked third with 11,036 active developers and 7,494 new contributors in 2025. Most Bitcoin development focuses on protocol-level infrastructure rather than application-layer projects.
