Ether Funds Record Net Outflow Amid Rising Market
The US funds holding ether experienced a net outflow of $140 million in the week ending September 18, 2026, marking the first week of outflows since mid-August. This comes after four consecutive weeks of inflows, during which the funds gathered $1.94 billion.
On Friday, September 18, ether funds took in $143.8 million, but the weekly loss was built up on the days before it and was almost recovered on the final trading day. The price of ether stands at $2,703 as of Monday morning, a 5 percent increase from the previous day.
The outflow is significant, but the price movement suggests that general risk appetite may be driving the market rather than any specific asset or event. Bitcoin, for example, rose 4.27 percent over the same period, while XRP and Solana gained 7.30 percent and 7.17 percent, respectively.
It's worth noting that the outflow is from US spot ETFs on ether, which are not available to retail investors in Europe. Instead, European exchanges offer crypto ETPs or ETNs, which track the price of the underlying asset but may have different tax implications and custody arrangements.
