Ethereum Breaks Downtrend Against Bitcoin, $0.040 Level in Focus

Ethereum has broken its long-running downtrend against Bitcoin, ending a period of relative weakness that dated back to 2017. The $ETH/$BTC price has finally started to behave more like a leading blue-chip asset within the current crypto cycle, but markets don't hand out confirmations for free.

The Ethereum price setup has just gotten more interesting, with the $ETH/$BTC price breaking above a trendline. However, this doesn't automatically mean the next leg is guaranteed. The chart still has a major hurdle at $0.040, and what happens there could decide whether this breakout has real follow-through or simply fades into another stretch of consolidation.

Assuming a generous rally, breaking above $0.040 could signal a larger Ethereum price rally. However, if $ETH/$BTC fails beneath $0.040, the recent breakout could lose momentum, leaving the Ethereum price stuck in consolidation instead of launching into a stronger move.
