Ethereum Breaks Longest Losing Streak on Record as Tom Lee Predicts Strong Q4
Ethereum is on track to break its longest losing streak on record after falling for three consecutive quarters. According to Coinglass data, Ethereum (ETH) dropped by nearly 29% in Q4 of 2025, followed by a 30% decline in Q1 of 2026, and a 26% drop in Q2. This has led to concerns about the cryptocurrency's performance.
However, Bitmine Immersion chairman Tom Lee predicts that Ethereum will see strong FOMO (fear of missing out) into year-end, driven by institutional inflows and a potential passage of the CLARITY Act. Lee believes that if this act passes, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum would have a great fourth quarter.
The current quarter has seen a significant turnaround for Ethereum, with a 58% gain so far, compared to an average return of 12% and a median return of 10% for the third quarter. Despite this, Lee cautions that the gain is not permanent, as there are still two weeks left in the month.
Lee chairs Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), which holds 5,929,198 ETH, or 4.9% of the token's supply. He expects a strong rally in markets if the Federal Reserve leaves rates unchanged at its meeting in September.
