Ethereum Exit Queue Hits Record High After MetaMask Security Incident
The Ethereum validator exit queue has hit a record high of 850,736 ETH after a recent security incident involving MetaMask.
This spike in exits is due to MetaMask's decision to remove some of its affected validators from the network, which has contributed significantly to the elevated levels in the exit queue.
The current exit queue translates to a waiting period of approximately 14 days and 18 hours, with only 256 validators able to exit during each network epoch.
Ethereum's protocol limits the rate of validator withdrawals by enforcing an exit queue and a set churn limit to prevent massive simultaneous exits that could threaten the network's security.
