Ethereum Eyes $2,855 Breakout Amid Accumulation and Network Advancements
Ethereum's price is eyeing a move toward $2,855 after reclaiming the $2,600 mark. As of October 6, ETH was trading near $2,714, consolidating below its next key resistance level. The cryptocurrency's price prediction hinges on whether buyers can sustain recent gains and defend against potential selling pressure.
Data from TradingView showed Ethereum breaking through the $2,599 Fibonacci level before stabilizing above it. Immediate support levels were identified at $2,547 and $2,511. A confirmed breakout above $2,855 could push Ethereum toward the next extension target at $3,163. However, the broader chart indicated that buyers had not yet confirmed another breakout.
Analysts reported ongoing Ethereum accumulation despite sideways price movement. However, exchange inflows presented a near-term selling risk. CryptoOnchain noted a significant increase in exchange deposits, with a 33,209 ETH net exchange deposit on October 2. This rise in exchange-side supply could restrict upside potential before buyers test the next resistance zone.
Beyond price action, Ethereum's network development introduced another catalyst. Eduardo Antuña Díez reported an atomic Layer 1-to-Layer 2 transaction test, marking a technical milestone. However, deployment, security reviews, and broader adoption remain hurdles before this innovation can impact the price prediction.
Tom Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat, provided a longer-term perspective, suggesting ETH could reach between $25,000 and $50,000 during the current cycle. Despite this optimistic outlook, the immediate price prediction remains tied to nearer technical levels and current market dynamics.
