Ethereum Foundation Appoints Security Researcher Pascal Caversaccio to Board
The Ethereum Foundation has appointed Pascal Caversaccio to its Board of Directors. This decision comes after a tumultuous year for the foundation, which cut its budget by 40%, reduced staff by around 54 jobs, and shut down its Privacy and Scaling Explorations lab.
Caversaccio is a well-known Ethereum security researcher and co-founder of SEAL 911, an emergency security response group. He has also written two books on Ethereum privacy, including 'Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty' published in 2025.
His appointment marks a strategic shift for the foundation, which is now focusing on oversight and values-alignment rather than direct technical execution. This change reflects the organization's broader pivot towards decentralization, where authority is being handed over to independent community-run organizations.
