Ethereum Foundation Shifts Grants Focus to Strategic Opportunities
The Ethereum Foundation has revamped its grant program to focus on strategic opportunities within the ecosystem. The new Ecosystem Support Program replaces the open grants system, which had become unsustainable due to a high volume of applications.
The previous program supported hundreds of projects, contributing essential building blocks across Ethereum. However, it limited the foundation's capacity to pursue priority initiatives. To address this, the foundation will now distribute grants through two channels: a wishlist highlighting focus areas and requests for proposals targeting specific ecosystem needs.
The inaugural round of wishlist items and RFPs is currently live, covering key areas including cryptography, privacy, security, and community growth. This structure aims to direct resources more efficiently while maintaining support for ecosystem development.
