Ethereum Foundation Stakes 72,000 ETH with Simplified Validator Tech
The Ethereum Foundation has staked 72,000 ETH using a simplified version of distributed validator technology (DVT) called DVT-lite. This move aims to make distributed staking more accessible for institutions with large ETH holdings.
According to Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the Ethereum Foundation, the assets are currently sitting in the validator entry queue and will be activated on March 19.
DVT-lite takes a simpler approach than standard solo staking or full DVT, which distributes private keys across many coordinating nodes. Instead, it loads the same validator key onto several machines with automatic failover if one goes down.
Buterin hopes that this will encourage more large ETH holders to participate in Ethereum staking, reducing the control of professional providers over validator infrastructure.
