Ethereum Institutional has thrown its support behind Ethlabs' proposal to reduce Ethereum block times from 12 seconds to 10 seconds, citing growing institutional activity on-chain.

The 'Quick Slots' concept, as EIP-8198 is also referred to, aims to improve the network's responsiveness and user experience. The change is being framed not only as a technical improvement but also as a necessity due to increasing on-chain activity from institutions.

Support for the proposal comes from DeFi founders, with 20 quoted in an article by Ethlabs, who see faster block production as beneficial for reducing friction created by slower transaction finality dynamics.
