Ethereum Prepares for Capacity-Boosting Glamsterdam Upgrade on October 6

The Ethereum community is gearing up for the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade, which aims to significantly boost the network's capacity. The latest devnet testing phase has been completed successfully, paving the way for a proposed deployment on October 6 in Sepolia.

Developers have warned that some wallets, indexers, and gas estimators might stop working correctly due to changes in the gas model included in the upgrade. The Ethereum Foundation has issued a cautionary note ahead of the Glamsterdam activation.

The foundation has also launched Platåberget, a public testnet that allows developers to preview the upcoming upgrade before its mainnet deployment. This is seen as an effort to ensure a smooth transition and minimize potential disruptions to users.
