Ethereum Prepares for Final Glamsterdam Test Ahead of Main Net Rollout

The Ethereum Foundation has scheduled a test of its Glamsterdam upgrade for October 6. This final test is expected to precede a main net rollout, which will significantly increase transaction speeds across the Ethereum blockchain.

Glamsterdam combines changes known as 'Amsterdam' on the execution layer and 'Gloas' on the consensus layer. The upgrade will change how blocks are built on-chain, how validators check them, and how clients handle transaction processing.

According to the Ethereum Foundation, once complete, the Glamsterdam upgrade will reduce dependence on trusted middleware for block-builder payments. This should result in a faster and more efficient Ethereum blockchain.

Glamsterdam is the biggest change to the Ethereum network in several years, surpassing even 'The Merge' which occurred in 2022. As of September 29, ETH was trading at $2,725 USD.
