Ethereum Preps for Capacity Boost as CFTC Advances Crypto Rules
Ethereum's Sepolia testnet underwent a last-minute software update to prepare for a significant capacity increase. One of the main validator clients for Ethereum updated its software just hours before the test, which aims to raise the amount of work each block can hold to 200 million gas.
On-chain analyst Aunt Ai reported that GMGN transferred 11,999.5 ETH (approximately $23 million) to Coinbase's Batch Staking address for staking. Notably, a week prior, GMGN had deposited ETH worth $16.38 million to a trading platform, raising suspicions of a potential sale.
Ethereum's price saw a slight gain, rising 0.28% to $2713. This marks the highest level since September 22, 2026, when it traded at $2748.68, and the largest percentage increase since October 4, 2026, when it gained 0.72%. Meanwhile, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is moving forward with its own crypto market-structure rules following the failure of the CLARITY Act in Congress.
Additionally, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has cleared 3x leveraged Bitcoin and Ethereum funds for trading. This development comes as SpaceX shares jumped 7.6% on Monday, extending a strong run after Morgan Stanley reiterated an Overweight rating and a $300 price target.
