Ethereum Price Volatility Continues Ahead of Q4
Ethereum's price has been experiencing significant fluctuations this year. As of now, it trades at $2,405, down 19% year-to-date and still below its all-time high of $4,955 set in August 2025.
The recent surge of 27% in September was largely driven by Ethereum ETF inflows, which reached a record $1.75 billion in August. However, these flows reversed sharply on September 15, with a combined outflow of $592 million for Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs after the CLARITY Act failed to advance in the Senate.
The Federal Reserve's rate hike decision today has also had an impact on Ethereum's price. While the Fed raised rates by 25 basis points, its projections showed that 16 of the 18 committee members want at least one more hike before year-end, which leans away from a clean dovish signal.
There are five key developments that could push Ethereum toward the bull case instead of the base or bear case over the next two weeks. These include Fed officials signaling fewer rate hikes, constant ETF inflows, corporate treasury buying, Ethereum's upcoming upgrade to Glamsterdam, and staking activity keeping some Ethereum off the market.
