Ethereum Price Volatility Continues as SharpLink Reports Losses
SharpLink, an Ethereum-based company, reported significant losses in its Q2 financials due to the decline in ETH prices. The company recorded $394.3 million in net losses, a 3.5x increase from its previous year's loss of $103.4 million.
The losses consisted mainly of $321 million in unrealized crypto losses on its ETH holdings and $76.1 million in impairments on its liquid staking tokens LsETH and weETH. However, SharpLink's total revenue increased to $11.5 million, up from $0.7 million a year earlier.
BitMine Immersion (BMNR) also made significant moves, repurchasing 3 million shares of its common stock last week under its $4 billion share repurchase program. The company acquired an additional 7,931 ETH, bringing its total holdings to 5.805 million ETH worth $180 million at the time of writing.
BitMine Chairman Thomas Lee cited easing expectations of a rate hike as a positive sign for the crypto market, stating 'We expect easing financial conditions to be a tailwind for crypto.' The company has staked 5.067 million ETH with its Made in America Validator Network (MAVAN), resulting in annualized staking revenues of $257 million.
