Ethereum Proposal ERC-8350 Lets AI Agents Prove Memory Changes Privately
A new proposal for Ethereum, titled ERC-8350, was introduced on July 14, 2026. It outlines a method for autonomous AI agents to prove changes in their memory without revealing the actual data on the public blockchain. The proposal centers on an ERC-8350 agent memory registry, which records only cryptographic commitments linked to an agent’s private data rather than the data itself.
The system uses a signed structure called an ExperienceDelta to package memory updates. This structure is hashed into a unique Transition ID, ensuring that updates are recorded in the correct order and without exposing sensitive information. The registry enforces continuity by checking sequence numbers and prior state roots, preventing out-of-order updates.
Privacy is a key focus of the proposal. Raw memory, encryption keys, salts, and storage locations are explicitly barred from the registry. The contract code enforcing these rules must remain immutable, with no upgrade path allowed to maintain security. The authors, Everest An, XiaoHai, Luo, and Eric, emphasize that the registry does not verify the truthfulness or availability of the committed memory, leaving that to separate verification processes.
A reference implementation of the proposal already exists as a Solidity contract, AgentMemoryStateRegistry.sol, which adheres to the IAgentMemoryState interface. The contract includes test vectors to ensure compatibility with the specification.
