Ethereum Quietly Challenges Bitcoin's Dominance
Bitcoin's recent surge past $80,000 has sparked debate over whether the market has bottomed out. However, analyst John Gillen on Milk Road Show suggests that Ethereum may be quietly positioning for a more significant shift relative to Bitcoin.
Gillen notes that while Bitcoin's momentum and fear of missing out (FOMO) are currently driving the market, Ethereum is still leading in key areas such as tokenization, stablecoins, and 'agentic finance'. He also points out that the ETH/BTC ratio has recently broken out of its 10-year downtrend.
However, Gillen cautions that this breakout could be false and that Ethereum's ratio against Bitcoin could retest the prior downtrend before any sustained shift plays out. Despite this warning, he believes that the combination of a technical breakout and Ethereum's underlying use case exposure is worth monitoring.
