Ethereum Shifts Focus Towards Cryptographic Proofs for 2030 Vision
Ethereum's roadmap to becoming a 'cryptographic world computer' by 2030 is shifting its focus towards cryptographic proofs, according to Vitalik Buterin. The vision aims to reduce computation on-chain and improve verification efficiency.
The current system involves every node repeating the same work, which can be resource-intensive. In contrast, the proposed system would use compact proofs to verify results, with nodes sampling data and checking execution against these proofs.
PeerDAS (peer-to-peer data availability sampling) is an already deployed feature that splits extended blob data into 128 columns for network distribution and sampling. Regular nodes subscribe to at least 8 column subnets under Ethereum's description.
