Ethereum Unveils FOCIL and FairFIL to Boost Anti-Censorship Capabilities

Ethereum is exploring two new mechanisms to enhance its anti-censorship capabilities: FOCIL and FairFIL.

The issue of censorship resistance in Ethereum arises when a transaction meets protocol rules but fails to be included in a block within a reasonable time.

This problem occurs because the authority to include transactions is concentrated in the hands of a few builders, who can unilaterally decide which transactions to include or exclude.

To address this issue, Ethereum researchers proposed Inclusion Lists, where validators retain some authority to designate certain transactions that must be processed.
