Ethereum's Ether Token Shifts from Speculation to On-Chain Activity
Ethereum's Ether (ETH) token is shifting its usage from exchange-based speculation to on-chain activity, indicating growing global demand and accumulation. The signal of decreased US demand for ETH can be seen in the Coinbase premium index, which has been mostly negative throughout 2026.
$ETH remains close to the $1,900 range, having recently slowed down to $1,889.80. Despite showing few signs of rallying, it still achieved an 18.5% gain in July, its best month year to date.
The Ethereum ecosystem is witnessing a rise in on-chain activity, with DeFi lending showing signs of recovery. ETH remains one of the strongest collaterals for DeFi protocols, keeping liquidity within the ecosystem.
