Ethereum’s Glamsterdam Upgrade Advances with Sepolia Testnet Activation
Ethereum’s upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade has been successfully activated on the Sepolia testnet, marking a crucial step before its full deployment on the mainnet. The upgrade aims to enhance the network’s efficiency and scalability by introducing key changes, including the separation of block proposal and block construction roles. Additionally, it simplifies parallel execution, allowing multiple transactions to be processed simultaneously and increasing overall network throughput.
The Ethereum Foundation is also considering setting a lower bound for the gas limit at 200 million as part of this upgrade, a significant jump from the current level of around 60 million. This adjustment could considerably boost the network’s processing capacity. Following the Sepolia test, developers will next activate the upgrade on the Hoodi testnet before finalizing the mainnet rollout schedule.
Glamsterdam follows the previous Fusaka upgrade and represents another major milestone in Ethereum’s development. Once the mainnet deployment is complete, the foundation plans to begin full-scale development of the next upgrade, Hegotá.
