Ethereum's Quiet Rise Challenges Bitcoin Dominance
Bitcoin's recent surge towards $80,000 has left many wondering if it has bottomed out. However, analyst John Gillen on Milk Road Show believes that Ethereum may be positioning for a more significant shift relative to Bitcoin.
Gillen expects Bitcoin to trade above $82,000 within the next week, but notes that the current setup is a 'coin toss' between a bull trend and failure to hold. He attributes this uncertainty to momentum and FOMO winning out at present.
When asked about Ethereum's performance against Bitcoin, Gillen pointed to several key indicators. Firstly, he noted that most activity in tokenization, stablecoins, and 'agentic finance' occurs on Ethereum, maintaining its lead in these areas.
Gillen also highlighted the ETH/BTC ratio breaking out of a 10-year downtrend. However, he cautioned that this breakout could be false and that the ratio may retest the prior downtrend before any sustained shift plays out.
